BACK TO THE DAWN: An RPG Game where a Journalist Wrongfully Convicted must Prove His Innocence
Back to the Dawn is an indie roleplaying game being produced by Metal Head Games and scheduled for release in 2023. However, a demo of the game is currently available on Steam. Back to the Down puts you in the shoes of one of two protagonists, who end up in a maximum security prison after some unusual situations. One of them is Thomas, a fox who is known for being an accomplished journalist but was put behind bars after forging evidence against him. Suspicious that the city's mayor is behind this criminal act, he only has 21 days until the mayoral elections, and for that he must collect evidence, investigate the truth and prepare for revenge... all while talking and doing. partnerships with the inmates of that place.
In terms of graphics, the game is very well done: Back to the Dawn presents a harmony between the pixelated 2d with the 3D at times that really impresses, in addition to the lighting created for the most diverse places in the penitentiary. As for its gameplay, the game apparently takes some inspiration from Shenmue: you walk around the penitentiary's premises, talk to the inmates, get along with them and even perform jobs ordered by the guards of the place, all while collecting evidence that the lead to prove their innocence, including facing some prisoners even. The way things are resolved here is done through two dice: depending on the value, you can either succeed in a quest or fail.
It is without a doubt an excellent game to keep an eye on. Back to the Dawn features an interesting storyline, with differentiated gameplay and very beautiful retro graphics. It's worth checking out and playing it when it's released. In the meantime, you can check out the gameplay of the demo and even download it to try it out. Just click on the respective links below.
