BERRYWITCHED!: You've been woken up in a forest cursed by a CUTE strawberry WITCH.

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

Berrywitched! is a short horror visual novel indie game that was produced by Smilestrawbunny and published on the itch.io platform on March 16th of this year, and updated on April 1st. Berrywitched! tells the story of a protagonist (you) who finds himself lost in a forest that, according to rumors, is cursed. After a long journey, you succumb to fatigue and faint, only to be woken up by a beautiful girl who claims to be the Strawberry Witch, who, according to the same rumors, lives in the forest and fulfills the most varied wishes of those who find her.

According to gamedev, the game was produced over a two-week period for a themed game jam, the "Strawberry to the Heart" Game Jam of this year. There's not much to say about the gameplay and graphics, as we have here a visual novel where the most interaction you have is just reading the story that unfolds and choosing from some answers to the situations that happen, thus being able to change the course of the story and launch several endings depending on the player's choice. And like any self-respecting visual novel, visuals are very important here, and Berrywitched! presents a certain charm, providing an almost cartoonish character design, very typical of children's TV shows.

It is worth remembering that, despite all this cartoonish look and cheerful soundtrack, the game is very tense in its plot, since according to the game page, Berrywitched! features mentions of violence, murder and even suicide. The game features around five endings and can be completed in around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on what you do.
