FARADAY PROTOCOL: Solve Puzzles by Bending Energy and Manipulating Machinery in a Alien Space Colony
Faraday Protocol is an indie first-person puzzle adventure game that was produced by Red Koi Box and published on August 12th, 2021 and is available on the Steam platform. However, you can try out the game's mechanics thanks to a demo that was made available on both Steam. In Faraday Protocol, you control Raug Zeekon, an interstellar archeologist from the planet Cunor, who will investigate the emergence of a mysterious signal on a star that has not yet been explored. Upon arriving there, you discover the ziggurats, which were apparently built by an ancient civilization and, upon entering one of them, you soon take possession of an artifact of that civilization, the Bia-Tool, capable of absorbing and redistributing energy at certain points. Your goal is to explore and unravel the mysteries behind these ziggurats, in the company of an A.I., called IRIS.
First of all, Faraday Protocol is impressive in its graphics: they've managed to combine a retro 30s style with a distinct futurism here. The lighting is very well done, and the choice of colors most of the time is excellent, creating a unique environment that accentuates the mood of mystery and exploration very well. The gameplay is a high point: what we have here is a puzzle game that certainly had some inspiration from games like Portal, where you use a weapon that allows you to absorb and redistribute energy to unlock doors and elevators. The challenge level of the puzzles is very well designed, which will require you to spend a few minutes analyzing and thinking of ways to solve them, all in a fun way.
