FREE CANDY: Survive an Underground Maze and Earn a Bucket of Candies in a Creepy Game
Free Candy is a first-person horror game produced by SleepyJack01 and published on July 10th of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". The premise of Free Candy is very simple and straightforward: on an apparent Halloween night, you find a place where you give away free candy, but when you get there, you end up in an underground maze, and the idea is: survive the maze and find the sweets. That's all.
The game is SleepyJack01's first independent work and was created for My First Game Jam: Summer 2021, a game jam focused on showing the creators' first work, of any possible skill level. As a game produced for this event, we know what to expect: a short game that can be finished in a few minutes, simple graphics but well done in context (the creator of the game is a beginner, apparently) and the gameplay too; you just move around using the WASD keys and look around with the mouse.
The level of terror present in the game is good, but very limited: it can work well in the first move, but in the following ones, the feeling loses some of its power. On the other hand, being his first job, SleepyJack01 gains experience in this area, being able to learn more and produce more elaborate games.
