NEONCODE: Investigate a Corporation Related to a Strange Death in this Cyberpunk Adventure Game
NeonCode is a first-person indie action-adventure game produced by fubenalvo and published on August 18, 2018, with an update received on July 25 of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". In NeonCode, you control detective Craig Williams in a cyberpunk town. Craig is on a beach thinking about how to pay his bills when he suddenly hears gunshots being fired nearby. Upon arriving at the site, he sees a lifeless body near the source and soon discovers that this person worked for a corporation called Eclipse. Now, it's up to you to investigate the causes of this man's death, going to various places looking for clues and answers to solve this mystery.
NeonCode puts you in a semi-open world, with strong inspirations from Cyberpunk works, such as Blade Runner, as well as other movies and games, such as Miami Vice, Grim Fandango and others. Graphically, the game is very well produced. The visuals are excellent, with textures, realistic objects and characters and the use of lights and shadows that, together with a very retrowave soundtrack, give the atmosphere of a futuristic, chaotic world with strong noir influences.
The gameplay, as in many indie games played here, is not very elaborate, but it fits strongly with the game's proposal. Furthermore, let's take into account that the game was produced by fubenalvo as a hobby, something he likes to do, so we shouldn't expect more elaborate gameplay, with combinations, etc.
NeonCode is a game worth checking out, which is relatively short and can be completed in just over an hour. You can check the gameplay of the game by clicking on this link here and, if you are interested, you can download it from the page below:
