THE WRECK: A Mature 3D Visual Novel about Sisterhood, Motherhood, Grief and Survival

The Wreck is an indie adventure and interactive fiction game with touches of point and click that is being produced by The Pixel Hunt, and which is still in the development stage with no set release date. However, a demo version of the game is available on the Steam platform. In the game, you control Junon Demange, a 36-year-old failed screenwriter who lives a life in shambles: emotionally dormant, a stalled career and apparently newly divorced, Junon faces a pivotal moment in her life: she goes to an ER (emergency room) of a hospital and discovers that his estranged mother has a brain hemorrhage, in a critical condition, standing between life and death. Faced with this, Junon must recall her memories and find a way to move on with life.

The Wreck is a mature game with a strong narrative load. The motto here at is stated as follows: "Relive the Past. Alter the Present. Embrace the Future." And that's exactly what you do here in the game: all choices are made through dialogue, huge words spread across the scenarios and even moving forward and backward in time, like in a movie. The story unfolds according to your choices and, to understand more about Junon's life and her relationship with her sister and mother, you put yourself in front of her memories, where you observe the whole place in search of clues.

Visually, The Wreck is spectacular. Combining traditional 3D with a hand-drawn aesthetic, something a little similar to what we see in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, only without the onomatopoeias and colors typical of comic books, of course. All of this combined harmoniously, with the aim of creating an impressive narrative and dramatic experience.

This unique experience is worth checking out. The game features a very interesting replay factor, where you can relive certain situations several times to find different answers and even reach different endings. The Wreck doesn't have a release date yet, but you can check out the gameplay here on our channel and, if you're interested, you can download the demo from the Steam page. You will only need to click on the respective links below.
