TRIAL OF TWINS: An Adventure Game where You use a Mystic Amulet to Explore a Mayan Temple
Trial of Twins (a.k.a. Trial of Twins: Eloy's Connection) is a first-person indie exploration and adventure game produced by PRODUKTIVKELLER Studios, and published on August 1st of this year, on the indie gaming platform "itch.io". In the game you control Eloy, a young explorer who receives a message from his grandfather, asking him to go to an ancient Mayan temple, where ancient spirits will test his mind and courage. In addition to the message, Eloy receives an amulet of great power that will be useful in the tests he will pass.
Trial of Twins, according to the studio, was produced as an academic project, based on a game called Colorful Sticky Objects, which was produced for a game jam. In this one, you used a utility weapon to build bridges, while here you use an amulet to create platforms and move things. In addition, Trial of Twins has strong influences from Indiana Jones and the games in the Tomb Raider franchise.
In terms of gameplay, you just walk, run, jump and interact with objects, but the main and interesting point here is the amulet: the amulet has two types of powers: one, represented by the color red, creates platforms by turning on the red dots present in various parts of the temple. The other is represented by the color green, which allows the player to move things like walls, doors and elevators. The visual part is well produced, bringing a unique beauty.
Trial of Twins is a short game and can be completed in up to an hour. You can check the gameplay of the game by clicking this link here. If you are interested in trying it out, you can download the game by clicking on the page below:
